Chamber of Deputies Approves Bill Guaranteeing Social Security Coverage for Graduate Scholarship Recipients
The Brazilian scientific community has just achieved significant progress in recognizing research activity as work. The approval of the new bill that includes postgraduate scholarships in the pension system represents not only a historical correction, but also an important step in the appreciation of science in the country. Understand what changes, who will be impacted, and why this measure is so relevant for the future of research in Brazil.

2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
The 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recognized advances in MOFs, highlighting the contributions of Omar M. Yaghi, Susumu Kitagawa and Richard Robson in creating porous materials capable of capturing gases, storing energy and even extracting water from the air. More than a specific discovery, the award symbolizes a paradigm shift in materials science: the ability to design and architect structures with functions defined at the atomic level. Today, MOFs are already being explored in applications ranging from CO₂ capture to medicine, consolidating themselves as a central platform for the development of sustainable and innovative technologies.

I Encontro Brasileiro de MOFs
(I-EBMOF) ocurrs in UFMG
Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are at the center of one of the most promising revolutions in materials science, with applications ranging from energy to medicine, and they have now reached a milestone in Brazil with the I Encontro Brasileiro de MOFs (I EBMOF). From September 24th to 26th, 2025, at UFMG in Belo Horizonte, researchers, students, and professionals in the field will meet to discuss advances, build collaborations, and consolidate an increasingly connected national scientific community around these materials that combine structural simplicity with enormous technological potential.

MOF2026, the 10th edition of the International Conference on Metal-Organic Frameworks and Open Framework Compounds, is consolidated as one of the main global meetings dedicated to porous materials, bringing together in May 2026, in New Orleans (USA), researchers from academia and industry. Continuing a series started in 2008, the event reflects the advancement of the field, with applications ranging from gas separation to catalysis and drug release. More than a conference, MOF2026 stands out as an international collaboration platform, connecting fundamental science and technological innovation.
